Take Time To Make

Join us in building your own E-Paper wearable, T1 by Ampere Works. A nifty little time-keeping device that you make yourself.

What is the T1?
T1 is a small network enabled e-paper display that you build yourself from a kit. Now, we intend it to be used as a watch. However, because it's user modifiable, it can be hacked into a display or tracker for anything you want.

Why do such a thing when a budget smartwatch can run circles around it?
The reason stems from a simple fact. No one person or group of people (<100) has the requisite knowledge to make a smartphone from scratch. We all use and rely on tech that's pretty much a black box to all of us on some level. This is a testament to the power of human collaboration but also our comfort with abstraction. So here's a device that's laid bare for you to poke around at its inner workings. Over a 3-hour workshop, we will go through some basic electronics, the reasons we selected the hardware that's in the T1, assembly, and programming.

All of this is done to give you an intuitive sense of how your average piece of electronic hardware is constructed and integrated with the software.

The workshop will have a fee of ₹5000 per participant.
